At Heatherwick Studio, we're passionate about storytelling, and we believe that our sketches are the best way to convey our designs. We've been experimenting with various sketch styles, like digital sketches and adding hand-drawn lines to render views. That's why we've created something special – a Hand-sketch Unreal post-processing cel-shading technique. It's customizable for each project, allowing us to change things like line weight, hatch patterns, and cel shading colours. This way, we can highlight different aspects of our designs and tell engaging stories that resonate with everyone.

Unreal Engine Live connection with Grasshopper

Grasshopper is a parametric tool that we use constantly in our design process to generate geometry options. To be able to visualise each option geometry has to be baked, with this tool we have a live connection with Unreal being able to visualise live the change in geometry allowing us to interact with light changes and materials. 

Sliding the number of slats and changing the angle we can visualise live the amount of light entering our workspaces.

Digital Twin with Photogrametry

Developed a workflow to have a digital library that mimic all the archive models created in house to support physical model making by using photogrammetry.
