Using the counselling rooms as a starting point, the spaces were arranged in the garden around a heart where the visitors can feel embraced by the architecture and understand the different spaces that the centre has to offer.

From these rooms, we created timber structures that lift the gardens at different heights and enhance a feeling of shelter by being constantly surrounded by greenery.

Inside, the timber cores are filled with shelving, using the walls as a canvas for the expression of home, where objects can be displayed and the users can take ownership of the building.

Maggie’s is a charitable organisation offering free psychological and emotional support for people affected by cancer including their family and friends.

The brief asks for an uplifting and welcoming building, creating a homely environment for its visitors. In response to the large scale buildings of the Hospital Campus, our Maggie’s creates a buoyant garden within which the building is set.
